THE GOOD, THE SAD, AND THE UGLY

Sunday’s Monday
As human beings, we are drawn toward the comfortable, and while we enjoy its pleasure, we become inconsistent and complacent. Our habits begin to change, our nature starts to warp, and the critical things in our lives often slowly fade into nonexistent. For example, Psychologist Carol Dweck has spent her entire career studying attitude and performance, and her latest study shows that people’s core attitudes fall into one of two categories: a fixed mindset or a growth mindset. (Taken from (https://www.weforum.org) My take on it is that the first group is satisfied with where they are, and the second group wants more. For those whose world is great right now, they come under the spell of complacency. The don’t pray, read or study as they should, their relationship with Jesus suffers because they don’t spend much time with Him. They are too busy enjoying good health, traveling, working, and all the fun stuff that comes with a great life.
Once we start slipping, God tries to draw our attention back to Him, who made all things possible. Some heed His call, while others have to be nudged a little harder. Ergo, when the hard time comes, they become sad and usually get mad at God for allowing the grief to come to them. Many will cry out to God for relief and beg for His favor once again. A few will become so angry and bitter that they never return to following Jesus. For all who repent, the restoration is there, as Jesus holds no grudges. As it is written in Acts of the Apostles 3:19 (NLT), Now repent of your sins and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped away. Unfortunately, those who don’t return will face the final judgment.
Then there comes the ugly, where one refuses God’s offer and returns to the life they had before they knew Jesus. A sinful, unrewarding, painful, and worry-ridden life. Yes. That very place they begged to escape from when they accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior. That is simply a sign of a weak faith along with a faulty relationship with God that is allowing them to block God from having a part in their life. This being the biggest mistake that they can make leads only to the greatest ugliness. Fortunately, those who decided to reconcile with Jesus they will not see this ugly. Should this subject intrigue you turn to Revelation 20:11-15 in your bible and learn.
I didn’t list a category for the halfway followers out there because you’re not excused just because you do only enough for show. You will be confronted in the judgment, and at that point, there will be no do-overs. If this makes sense to you might want to find an accountability partner to help you make your changes today. The bible talks about your servanthood in Matthew 6:24 (NLT), No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and be enslaved to money.
Dear Father, I thank you for the gift of this day; I also thank you for each reader and pray that you bless and provide for them. I ask you, Lord, to open their minds so that this would register with them and they would desire to make You first in their lives. May we all become more aware of your presence every moment of the day, and may we live and help others to live in your favor. Thank you, Dad, for choosing us for adoption. Amen
