IN CONTROL?

Sunday’s Monday
Here is a confusing and misleading pair of words that grants many the security of thinking they are in control of their lives. A wise person would think it will not take long to realize how ridiculous the idea is. Seriously, think about the word "control" for a moment, but before you do, dictionary.com explains control as exercising restraint or direction over. That being said, many of us often feel we’re in complete control, which comes to us straight from the burning breath of Satan to shield us from the truth. The dictionary lists synonyms for control, such as authority, discipline, domination, government, management, regulation, and rules, to name a few from a long list. Look at these words closely and find the flaws. Look at authority and think of how one must place oneself above others, which doesn’t mean the subordinates will follow it, or management is another: try dictating sickness or accidents. Think of all the things that happened in your life that were or are out of your control. No matter what title one carries or the synonym it is given, one's control is always at a minimum! A strong warning is found in Romans 8:6 (NLT): So, letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace.
This is one of the greatest downfalls of an addict; they come to believe That time spent in treatment and Jesus in their heart, they are cured. They feel like they can control their thoughts and actions; sadly, no one explains to them that they may sincerely have a heart full of Jesus, but they still have a head full of Satan. Think about that for a moment! The brain controls the body, and it’s not until the brain learns to get in sync with the heart that the owner finds peace. It falls under false self-control; they believe they can, without knowing how. We all are more than capable of falling into this category. As a matter of fact, we all have, and sadly, thousands are there today. The Bible is full of verses warning us about this very situation. Proverbs 19:2 (NLT), Enthusiasm without knowledge is no good; haste makes mistakes; Proverbs 19:21 (NLT), You can make many plans, but the Lord’s purpose will prevail.
Far too many allow their past to control their emotions, thoughts, and attitudes. The enemy has them looking at the past all wrong. They see it filled with shame, guilt, sadness, anger, and a host of other negative feelings. Becoming a heavyweight and constantly wearing one down causing a person to grow weary and seek relief in all the wrong ways. God gave me the solution to this situation years ago to share with those suffering. Your past is training for your future! Think of it this way: it took everything in your past to bring you to where you are today. I never knew the value of my past until God had me to share it with others. I found that some were going through exactly what I went through, and the details of my journey helped them. Remember, God doesn’t waste anything. He will use our pain as well as our Joy to help others. I find the value in my past as a time and a place that I never want to repeat, and my family, who knows me best, agrees. Romans 15:4 (NLT), Such things were written in the Scriptures long ago to teach us. And the Scriptures give us hope and encouragement as we wait patiently for God’s promises to be fulfilled.
Father, my prayer is short, and I pray pleasing, 2 Corinthians 12:9 (NLT), Each time, he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses so that the power of Christ can work through me. Grant us the faith to allow you to lead and have control of our lives. Amen
